Pepito consists of Ana Machado of Mexico and Jose Marquez of Cuba, both naturalized citizens of the U.S. who are now living in Madrid Spain. Together they produce electronic music that layers tecnopop, post-rock and punk music into a crunchy, rhythmic joy ride. Their first release, Migrante (2002) earned them Best New Band at the 2002 Latin Alternative Music Conference in NYC. In late 2003, they released an EP of remixes on the Barcelona-based Alku label. Their second album released in 2004, Everything Changes, was heraled by XLR8R magazine as the future of electropop. Their new album, The New World, recorded before they left to live in Spain, is further proof that the pop stylings of this duo are in tune with the times, bringing hope and redemption to a world gone so bad. Pepito is the type band that brings happiness and hope through the discourse and power of pop music.
